WBC’s Sanxin press means high quality at low cost
Paul Phillips at Warrington Council signed up for the first ever European YK press during Ipex 06. Some would consider the investment a brave move, but Mr Phillips felt that it was worth it based on pure economics. The cost was significantly lower than a comparable new machine, and the Sanxin offered an impressive list of productivity features which made it more attractive than the highest spec used machines available at the price.
The press has a top speed of 13,000sph and includes a wealth of quality and productivity features such as semi-automatic plate changing, touch-screen operation and metered dampening with chiller recirculation. Other features include electronic micro adjustment, bearer-to-bearer contact, quick action blanket clamps and fast wash-up speeds.
The Warrington Council team consists of experienced personnel, including a senior printer with direct main agent experience as a demonstrator and engineer for one of the leading B3 manufacturers. This naturally provided a stern test for the YK series machine on its first installation.
Mr Philips and his team did encounter some issues with the differences in plate technology between the Far East and European markets and some minor modifications were required to the gripping and dampening systems. These were dealt with effectively by both Printers Superstore and Sanxin themselves and the resulting modifications are now standard on every YK press sold.
Mr Philips is now very pleased with the purchase and the press consistently produces quality process work effectively. He comments: “We had a few issues to overcome and worked with Superstore on them, and now the press consistently prints to a great standard. When you buy any press you need the help and support of the press agent and the manufacturer, both of which we have. If I was in the market to upgrade another press I would certainly consider the Sanxin range.”
There are now several established UK installations of Sanxin equipment, echoing the success being seen by Sanxin across the globe - the Sanxin factory has begun to report that demand is outstripping supply.
