LEVENMOUTH OPTS FOR SANXIN

Four colour Sanxin makes Scotland debut in Fife

The first Scottish installation of a four colour Sanxin press has been made by Printers Superstore.  A YK524 complete with off press control system is now up and running at Levenmouth Printers, Levenmouth, Fife.

Levenmouth Printers Ltd is run by the husband-and-wife team of Craig and Shona Lumsden. According to Craig, the YK524 was an attractive proposition on economic grounds. “There’s no denying that the YK524 has a relatively low cost, and the deal looked great on paper. We realised we could buy new instead of buying a secondhand machine which was three or four years old.” He says.

Does he feel nervous about being the first Scottish installation of the Sanxin YK524 ?  “Not really, we bought a secondhand four colour Ryobi from Printers Superstore a year ago and have been very impressed with their back-up, I would go as far as saying they have the best engineers we have ever known, and they have always been helpful and responsive. Our experiences during installation and training have confirmed we were right to be confident.”

According to Mr Lumsden, Levenmouth Printers is a general commercial printer which aims to print as wide a variety of work as it can. “We aim to be versatile, though the main market is in short to medium run multicolour work. The Sanxin YK524 is now our front line machine which we will use for the highest quality jobs.  It produces consistently well, and we have been particularly impressed with the colour control system which is operated via a touch screen interface. The paper travel from the vacuum feed onwards is good. The quality of Sanxin’s engineering is high, it’s obviously a well built and durable machine.”

Another factor Mr Lumsden highlights is the YK524’s operator-friendliness. “We thought training would take a few days, but we were up and running in a couple of hours,” he says. “The automated plate changes and wash ups save time and effort during makeready, and they are easy features to use.”

Levenmouth Printers employs 14 staff at a 7,000 sq ft factory and produces for a diverse range of customers both in the local area and throughout Scotland. It has a comprehensive design, print and finishing capability. Performance figures have been good in recent times, with a 20% rise in annual turnover in the past three years. According to Craig Lumsden successs comes from a customer-focused approach. “We always go the extra mile to make sure they are happy,” he says.
